Job Objective:

Responsible for the development and performance of all sales and contracting activities in assigned markets; Provide leadership in the achievement of profitability and growth; Perform duties in alignment with company vision and values; Employ industry skill and expertise to enhance the overall growth, effectiveness, and efficiency of company operations. Compensation will be salary and commission based.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce new (closed) business for the company in landscape, janitorial, facility maintenance, and construction services in adherence with established revenue and sales goals.
  • Research and execute on contracting and procurement opportunities with government agencies (federal, state, or local), current clients, retail and commercial clients, via subcontracting, teaming, and mentor protégé agreements, or through other similar means of business growth and development.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits, submit freedom of information act requests, perform job estimating, technical writing, and proposal composition.
  • Attend networking events, conferences, training sessions, and similar activities that will enhance skills or relationship building with target clients.
  • Provide current and prospective customers with clear and easy to understand information regarding products and services.
  • Implement active contract forecasting (of current and new contracts) with a forecasting timeline expanding from immediate to two (2) years. Advise management of current contracts that are within one (1) year of term expiration.  
  • Maintain a pipeline of no less than five (5) viable contracting opportunities at all times, and communicate opportunities-in-progress to supervisor on a weekly basis;
  • Perform sales tracking. Maintain accurate records of proposals submitted, closure rates, margin of loss for non-awarded contracts, and other relevant sales data;
  • Provide input on company pricing and estimation schedules, inclusive of labor and non-labor service rates;
  • Prepare and conduct presentations and marketing materials that provide current and prospective clients with clear and easy to understand information about products and services (i.e. brochures, leaflets, power point presentations, etc.).
  • Perform the tasks necessary to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry techniques, products, and practices that can help the company perform more efficiently and effectively.
  • Utilize skill and expertise in the performance of employee training and development.
  • Assist with labor recruitment and supervision for upcoming jobs and jobs-in-progress.
  • Provide input on the development of policies, procedures, manuals, compliance, etc.
  • Maintain the integrity and appearance of the company within the community.
  • Provide an example of personal character to direct reports and co-workers with regard to commitment, skills, and work habits.

 

Experience and Job Requirements:

  • 4 - 5 years in sales, proposal writing, or similar business development role.
  • Must have a verifiable portfolio of successful contracts in the facility maintenance or related field.
  • Relevant past experience in landscape, janitorial, facility maintenance, or construction services.
  • Familiarity with industry materials and equipment, and physically capable of demonstrating the use and application of products and services.  
  • Able to interpret and create technical designs and drawings.
  • Willingness to travel when required in pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Able to work extended hours and assist in the performance of a wide range of business tasks as needed.
  • Strong presentation skills; impeccable oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and diligent in submitting thorough and complete information.
  • Demonstrable ease and effectiveness in public forums; a "people-person".
  • Effective at multi-tasking and able to keep pace in a fast moving business environment.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directives and manage multiple deadlines with minimal assistance.
  • Proficient in standard computer software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); able to utilize Social Media to market products and services.
  • Prior experience in project management and/or industry certifications a plus.
